Welcome to our vineyard and winery!
GREETINGS FROM MAURY ISLAND WINERY
Celebrating 17 years of award-winning wines from our estate vineyard
Many, many thanks to all of you who came to visit us this summer to sample our wines and hang out with us under the grape arbor. We enjoyed meeting you all and sharing stories about wine, vineyards and life in general. But now that our tasting season has ended, it’s on to harvest!
We are excited that this will be our first harvest of the half acre of Chardonnay we planted during that horrific heat dome weekend at the end of June, 2021 (all but two survived). They are now full of fruit and covered with the new side netting we installed this summer for bird and insect (mainly wasps) protection. The Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris vines are looking good, loaded with fruit that’s slowly reaching optimal ripening. We’re keeping a close eye on sugar and acid levels, trying to gauge when harvest will commence, usually the last week of September through mid to late October. If you’re on our mailing list (see below), you will soon be receiving an email regarding the Harvest Outlook with presumed dates for picking, always subject to change - like the weather!
For those of you who are not familiar with our wines, we are a small, family owned and operated vineyard and winery within the Puget Sound American Viticultural Area (AVA) dedicated to producing high quality estate-grown wines. Founded in 2008, we grow several clones of Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, producing about 120 cases per year of Pinot Noir and a traditional Champagne method sparkling rosé we call Crémant de Maury. In 2021 we added half an acre of Chardonnay vines and we look forward to serving some nice white wines before too long.
We are also now able to ship wine to nearly every state. To order wines available for shipping, visit our Store page. And if you would like to be added to our mailing list to receive updates regarding new wine releases, upcoming events, etc., just add your email address below.
Cheers!
Bill and Jan Riley
